About the collection
The Self-Reliance Library gathers every practical-knowledge edition HIPS Books has restored so far: two books on gardening and small holdings, four on food preserving and household food economy, and two on carpentry and repair. Together they show how earlier generations approached land, food and tools, from Bolton Hall’s small-farm argument to Leland’s mending handbook.
These are the same editions available individually and in the three-book food-preservation bundle, not eight new exclusive titles. The collection is 939 A4 pages across eight separate PDFs; check the contents before buying to avoid duplication.
Some preserved directions involve unsafe canning, curing, chemicals, pesticides or equipment. They are reproduced faithfully for historical study, not recommended: use current research-tested guidance for real practice.
