HIPS Books means Hidden in Plain Sight. We search old archives for worthwhile books that have slipped out of view and restore them as readable digital editions.
We follow the books, not a fixed list of subjects. The aim is to bring their knowledge, ideas and observations back to readers, with clearly labelled editorial guidance where it helps.
A discovery that became a reading shelf
HIPS stands for Hidden in Plain Sight. The project began with an interest in Hermeticism and the books behind it. Following those references led into old archives, where fascinating works were still available—but often only as difficult scans.
Finding a book was one thing. Spending time with it was another. Faded pages, uneven text and unfamiliar language could make a promising discovery hard to read. HIPS grew from the wish to make those books approachable again.
The search follows the books, not a fixed list of subjects. A work might preserve a useful skill, an unusual observation or an idea that deserves another reading. We look for knowledge left to be forgotten in the archives and bring it back to readers.
We restore the reading experience, rather than turn an old author into a modern one. The historical text keeps its identity; any new explanations are clearly labelled as HIPS editorial material.
