Annie Besant

Annie Besant (1847–1933) was a British writer, lecturer and social reformer. She joined the Theosophical Society in 1889 and became its President in 1907, and she later took a prominent part in Indian political life. Her Theosophical books range from short manuals to lecture series on thought, karma, the subtle bodies and spiritual discipline. HIPS editions present her historical text with clearly labelled vocabulary and reader guides; her religious and psychic claims belong to her period and are not established fact.
