Historical author

A. Hyatt Verrill

Alpheus Hyatt Verrill (1871–1954) was an American author, illustrator, naturalist and explorer. His writing included practical handbooks as well as travel and fiction. The Amateur Carpenter, published in 1915, introduces hand tools, workshop organisation, joinery and household projects, with diagrams credited to the author. HIPS presents this handbook as historical reading: its chemical recipes, machinery advice and structural projects are not certified modern instructions.
